We need some rest!

Beloved Concordia!

Just when it seemed we would emerge from the stress and struggle of COVID, we find ourselves staggered by the war in Ukraine and battling out-of-control inflation. We were looking forward to better, easier times, and that is NOT what we are experiencing. Tempers are frayed, and our hearts are weary. We NEED some rest!

The problem is that it doesn’t look like there is any rest (or peace) on the horizon. So, where do we turn when the world doesn’t offer what we need? Jesus made it very clear that “in this world, we will have trouble.” (John 16:33) But in the very same breath, HE reminds us that because of our faith, we can be courageous joyful … HE has overcome the world and ALL of its struggles. HIS victory is our victory!

My encouragement is to focus our hearts and minds on Jesus. Pray! Pray fervently! And look for ways to love and support the people around us. Whether it is a financial gift to help people in Ukraine or a kind word to a family member or neighbor, we have work to do! Let’s not become distracted. Let’s pray! And Let’s be courageous and joyful. Our Jesus has overcome the world!
