The WORD for Today is Romans 10

The WORD for Today is Romans 10.

It fills our lives. What we are. What we are not. What we have done. What we have not done.  What we have thought. Where we have been. The list could go on, but the point is that there are many focal points for our SHAME in our lives. We are covered in it.

That is a direct consequence of the “fall.” When Adam and Eve rebelled against God and their eyes were opened to recognize “good” and “evil” the first emotion they experienced SHAME. It is a consequence and a curse … just like sin and sickness and death.  It plagues us and tortures us and holds us in it’s steely grasp.  It makes us feel bad (and worse).

That’s the beauty of Romans 10.  SHAME has had its way with us for long enough.  The message of Romans 10 is that SHAME’s reign in our lives is OVER! “Anyone who believes in Him (Jesus) will never be put to shame.” Romans 10:11 That means that no matter what we may think, hear or feel about ourselves, through faith in Jesus, we will NEVER be put to shame!  Shame, like sin and sickness and death, have been utterly defeated by Jesus.

That is the power that covers every part of our lives today. And FORGIVENESS … and HOPE … and RECONCILIATION … and PEACE … all fill our lives and our future because we are covered in GRACE! And because our lives are covered in GRACE (and because there is no end to the GRACE available to us from God) we have the ability to to share GRACE with others … and show GRACE to others … and speak with GRACE to each other. And when we do …

You’ll probably begin to notice that people think you have beautiful feet (you’ll probably have to read Romans 10 to understand)!

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans‬ ‭10:9-13‬ ‭NIV‬‬
