Preaching Project: Easter 2015
Here at Concordia, we have a dream. What if pastors could help one another with the important, but often burdensome, responsibility and privilege of preaching? At the same time, what if we could utilize various social media platforms in order to connect our members and congregations to experience the joy of our faith for all the world to see? With the encouragement from some of the creators of the Best Practices for Ministry Conference in Phoenix, along with others, the staff at Concordia, San Antonio has created an experiment we are calling the “Preaching Project.”
The Preaching Project is an opportunity for many different LC-MS congregations across the country to share a particular sermon series, which begins on Easter Sunday and concludes on Mother’s Day. We will provide …
- Sermon series abstract
- Sermon graphics
- Sermon bumper
- Sermon outlines
- Suggested illustrations
In addition, we are creating a private Facebook page for interaction among congregational leaders who are participating in the Preaching Project. We are also creating an open Facebook page where our congregations will be able to share with thousands of other LC-MS members the experience of Easter around similar messages. Finally, we will create a Twitter hash tag to bring the Twittersphere into the experience.
It is our hope that the congregations that participate will engage in the open Facebook page and Twitter hash tag in order to foster a sense of community around a common Easter sermon and substituent Easter sermon series.
The overall goal is to help alleviate the burden of sermon preparation (for pastors) and to promote a sense of shared celebration for our people.
If you are interested, we would invite you to sign up by clicking here or by visiting BestPractices.church and clicking on the “Preaching Project” tab. We are posting materials now. There, sermon abstract and series graphics are already available. The outline of the Easter sermon will be posted in the next 24 hours along with a “talk thru” of the Easter sermon. You will find those resources here.
We would love to have you and your congregation participate with us in the Easter experiment. If the timing is too tight for Easter, stay tuned. We hope to repeat the experiment again in the Fall.
