Beloved Concordia Family,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I don’t know if you are ready or not, but the Advent/Christmas season is here! While being one of the delightful seasons of the year, it is also one of the most hectic. PLEASE DO NOT let the season become so “out of control” that you miss the opportunity to focus on the most important things: Faith, Family and Friends. Make time to be in touch with the people you love, and on your long list of holiday “to-do’s” put Jesus first.
Midweek Advent Services
The first of our Midweek Advent Services is coming up tomorrow, December 4, at 7 PM. We will be following an order of service that is known as Lessons and Carols. Come and enjoy some of the beloved Advent/Christmas carols and Scripture readings from the Old Testament Prophets and the Gospel of Luke. Plan to join us for this beautiful and meaningful devotional service.
40 Days of Thankfulness!
Beginning Thanksgiving Eve, we introduced an opportunity to focus our hearts and minds on giving thanks … with a little help from daily text messages. If you’d like to receive a “Thanksgiving Thought” each day by text message to help focus your heart and mind on giving thanks, test the word “40Days” (do not include the quotation marks) to 45384. You’ll receive a response from the system saying you are enrolled in the “40 Days of Thankfulness.” Then, each day, you’ll receive a message to help you remember to overflow with thankfulness. Give it a try. You can always opt out by following the directions on the very first message you receive.
Our 10th Annual Drive-Thru Nativity is coming up this weekend, December 7 & 8. The hours are from 5 PM through 9 PM. For you, our beloved Concordia family and friends, let me offer two “Insider Tips.”
1) I would encourage you to plan to come no earlier than dusk (about 6 PM). It is always more dramatic after dark.
2) Come on Saturday evening if you want the shortest wait. Sunday is always busier than Saturday, and from about 7:30-9:00 PM on Sunday evening the lines are longest.
No matter when you come, the music while you wait will be awesome. The cookies always taste great. And you’ll be able to visit with lots of friendly folks from Concordia along the way! Please also plan to invite/bring a friend.
Let me be one of the first to wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Your pastor loves you!
